Welcome to the 1st ever Meet The Author Q&A!!
This month we are featuring Melanie Lopata as our guest Author.
Melanie was born in Washington D.C., lived in Maryland for a while and now resides in Upstate, NY with her husband, 2 cats and 3 dogs. She is currently working on her 4th self published children's book and is planning to have at least 2 books published this year (2018). Her books include Hammy's New Home, If I Were A Duck and Annie To The Rescue.*
Melanie not only self publishes her books, but she has also started her own freelance editing company,
When Melanie is not writing or working on an editing job, she can usually be found enjoying reading and helping out a local rescue organization which was the foundation of her 3rd book, Annie To The Rescue. Melanie is also a serious coffee lover.
Q1. In terms of the work you do, what aspects are you most passionate about? Why?
A1. I'm most passionate about getting children interested in reading. I loved to read as a child and that sparked my writing interest. I'd love to see kids read more and be on electronics less.
Q2. What do you consider some of your biggest professional and personal accomplishments? How did your attributes contribute to those accomplishments?
A2. My biggest accomplishment was publishing my children's books. That wasn't easy (self publishing never is). I attribute my success to my family (husband and a few others) and my marketing manager/copy editor Tina Sanders. I wouldn't be where I am today without them.
Q3. What are you looking for right now?
A3. Right now I'm looking to become a well-known children's book author and successful freelance editor. I do all of that on the side, but some day in the future I'd love to make writing/editing my full time career.
