I was glad to have tried a different book by Mike Wells. Just goes to show that you may not like all the books an author writes. This book, though, was awesome. There was so much suspense that I didn't want to put in down. In fact, I only set it down once.

What starts out as a story showing the deep love a Daddy has for his daughter, giving her anything he can including private schooling, turns into a daughters promise to herself to find the man responsible for her fathers death. Elaine pushes herself throughout her childhood to excel in school to be able to become part of the Secret Service. When she finally reaches her dream to be avenge her fathers death, she find herself wondering where to go in life. Her decision leads her Sofia, Bulgaria and at the beginning of what I think it going to turn into a while ride.

I can't wait to jump into the second book. Make sure you have it ready because the first one leaving you hanging and needing to know what is going to happen to Elaine.

Right now on Amazon you can get the first 3 books in this series for Kindle for Free!!!
(I'm not sure how long this deal will last)

This short story is about a guy who gets paid high dollars to capture pictures for his clients. The twist.... the pictures are taken while he murders them. It's also has a bit of a love story in it as well.  great story-line, unfortunately, I thought the book was poorly written. I think it could've been a 5/5 book, but the author seemed to be in a hurry to finish it. There was no suspense that led up to the murders. The main character seemed to just jump from one murder to another with no time in between each. It almost seemed like she was trying to fit as many murders in as possible. It would've been better to have had half the murders and more suspense and descriptions.

It was also a bit hard to read due to the poor editing. I found myself rereading certain parts and editing it in my head as I went along, keeping me from enjoying it more.

This books started off a bit confusing for me and a tad boring. I would've loved more explanation as to how mortals were in Hell. We're they born or created? I thought that souls in Hell were of people that were horrible in life, so how could a baby or child be in Hell? Also, how many "families" were there down there? Was it just a couple or is it like a whole other world? Are they are able to reproduce like mortals?

Lucy, who is Lucifer's daughter, wants nothing more than to live a couple years in the mortal world. She herself is a mortal until she reaches her 18th birthday and goes through a change to become immortal. Are all the children under 18 mortal, and if so wouldn't she sort of already be living in a mortal world, even if only partially? Also, where is Lucy's mom? I don't understand the desire to be a mortal either. Did all the children get a chance to like in the mortal realm before the change. Just so many questions that made it hard for me to really get into it.

I have previously read another book by Sarah Kenney, Sleepwalker A Keyhole Novel, and loved that one. This just goes to show that even if you enjoy a certain author, you may not enjoy each one of their books. Also, even though I didn't rate this as a 5/5, I'd still like to read the next one in the series to see how Lucy makes out. I am hoping that the Devils Dream: The Devils Curse Novels #2, will answer may of the questions that I was left with after reading this one.

*UPDATE* I have spoken with the author and have been informed that this was her very first novel. She says that things become more clear in the following sequels.

Secrets Of The Elusive Lover by Mike Wells

Secrets Of The Elusive Lover

(Book 1)

By Mike Wells

Rating (1-5) - πŸ“˜πŸ“˜πŸ“˜
Genre - Romance
Format - eBook

I only gave this book 3 stars because, although I found it interesting, it didn't really grab and hold my attention. I prefer more suspense in my books. I think it was an easy read and well written. The story is classified as romance, but I honestly didn't read anything that I would consider romantic.

Adam, the main character, enjoys having an open relationship with lots of girls and lies to each of them about the others. He is very cautious about how he goes about his life and I did find the fact that he uses a roster to keep track of his girls, quite amusing. He's very methodical about the steps he takes to make sure all evidence is hidden from the girls and the lies to tells. Until Bethany comes along. All of a sudden he finds himself being more honest with her and slipping up more than usual.

I would like to read the next book in the series to see what happens to Adam simply out of curiosity. I am wondering if he will get caught by all of his girlfriends and end up with none, or if he will end up falling in love for once and settle down.

Mike Wells has a number of other books that he's written. Even though this wasn't really my "cup of tea", because of how well written it was, I do plan to check out his other books.

A Perfect Life by Danielle Steel

A Perfect Life

by Danielle Steel

Available on Amazon & Book Depository

Rating (1-5) - πŸ“˜πŸ“˜πŸ“˜ 3.5
Genre - Romance
Format - Hardcover
Pages - 306

This book was picked out from my local library by my 3 year old daughter. It was my first "blind date with a book", as well as my first Danielle Steel book. I didn't think I was going to like the book because I knew it was a romance novel and I am not into mushy romance reads. To my surprise I enjoyed this book very much.

It was not once of those "that only happens in books" kind of story. Blaise (the main character) goes through all sorts of different life situations with partners that could happen to anyone. I will admit that when I found out about Blaise's daughter's situation I got angry. I just don't understand how anyone could put their job before their child. Because I tend to read horror and mystery books, I kept forgetting I was reading a romance novel, and was waiting for something horrible to happen. It was a little slower reading because, although I was interested in how things were going to end, it just didn't really keep me interested as much. I mean it's a romance novel so you can kind of guess how it's going to end. I will say that I was thrown off track when I thought I had the ending figured out, then had to go and second guess myself.

One Of Us Will Be Dead By Morning by David Moody

One Of Us Will Be Dead By Morning

by David Moody

Rating (1-5) - πŸ“˜πŸ“˜πŸ“˜πŸ“˜πŸ“˜
Genre - Horror
Format - Hardcover
Pages - 330

I wasn't sure I wanted to start this book as it's the 4th in the Hater Series and I haven't read the previous 3. However, I got it in my PageHabit horror subscription box*, and figured why not.

The first chapter had me wondering if I was going to like it at all. I thought it was going to be a book about a bunch of kids getting into trouble. I was wrong. The bodies start to drop right in the beginning and don't stop throughout the entire book. There were lots of different characters and I don't care for trying to remember who is who, but it didn't matter in this book, especially when people are dying off left and right. It's a modern day alternative to zombies as the "Haters" aren't actually zombies. I thought the name "Haters", for the changed people, wasn't a good choice. For some reason, it seemed a bit childish to me (sorry). I did enjoy how there was no real hero though. It makes trying to figure out who will survive harder. Everyone was out for themselves.

If you enjoy blood and gore then this is the book for you. The author is quite descriptive and I was able to visualize every gruesome attack. The book is easy to read and I like how it is wrote in a day by day view, instead of just a random timeline. This made is a quicker read for me as I wanted to get through an entire "day" in the book before I stopped reading. I would consider this book a page turner. I kept reading to find out who was going to be the next to die, would anyone make it off the island, and who (if anyone) would survive.

I am going to look for the first 3 in the series because I am curious if there is a reason as to why people became Haters. Was it something in the air, the water what? And if I read the first 3 and there's no explanation, then I will look forward to another in the series to find out what happens.

BookThinkers

Some gifts I received from BookThinkers.

If your a book πŸ“š lover πŸ’– (and chances are you are if you're on my blog), then I highly suggest you check out BookThinkers (if you haven't already). BookThinkers is a relatively new social platform for all book lovers to keep track of books you want to read, have read, set challenges, earn badges and more. I really love being able to earn badges. They have even made it so that you can suggest a badge. You can also keep notes to look back on about each book and recommend books to friends. BookThinkers was created in 2017 by 3 friends, Nick, Alec and Derek (how awesome to have friends that share such a love of books). Learn a little about the BookThinkers team here.

The BookThinkers mission (as posted on their website) is simple -
To provide an exciting environment for readers that are united by a passion of unbounded learning and self-improvement!

I came across BookThinkers on Facebook in a group where a post was make for a giveaway they had for a sticker. I decided to sign up and check them out. Being a new site it had some things that seemed missing so I sent a message to Derek with suggestions. He responded immediately and was quite thankful. I continued to message him anytime I came across an idea. A couple messages I got in return were "Wonderful feedback! I'll forward it to the BookThinkers team immediately. If you ever have any other suggestions/idea on how we can make it even better we're always really grateful for feedback! We're striving to get to the "it's so good people will tell all of their friends" level. Another one said "Thanks again for all the enthusiasm and constructive feedback!" These little conversations that I had made me feel like I was a small part of something big. Try getting a personal response from big sites. Most of them have lost that connection with their members and are solely worried about profiting instead.
Every week there's a video post of Nick on Facebook where he talks about 5 lessons learned from a book that the team read. You can see the dedication and love for what he does in these videos. Check out the videos here.

Book I choose from a giveaway I won.

Not only do they have an awesome website, but an app is expected to be released this month (Feb.) to make our book experience even better. I'm so excited been for this app to come out and can't wait to try it. I have a lot of books to add to the site and I've been waiting for the app to come out, hoping it'll have a feature to make that easier.

So if you are looking to be part of something that makes you feel appreciated to be there -

The Fault In Our Stars by John Green

The Fault In Our Stars

by John Green

Available On Amazon
Available on Book Depository.

I saw the movie before reading the book and I hate doing that because I'm always afraid I won't enjoy the book as much. To my defense I didn't know that the book existed at that time as I wasn't an avid reader then. Either way that's definitely not the case here. I loved the movie and I think I have just found my newest favorite book. It's it's very easy to read and to visualize everything that's going on. The way it was written is so different than other books I've read. I can't really explain it. It is a first person standpoint that flows so well. I was actually able to read this entire book in just a little more than 1 day.
I will say that I am very disappointed that the book An Imperial Affliction by Peter Van Houten isn't a real book. I wasn't even halfway done reading this and went online to find where I could get that book because it sounds so good.

Dear John Green,
If you ever read this, I am requesting you to write the aforementioned book as you have made it sound extremely interesting. I believe this is owed to me as your book is the first one to ever make me cry.
I'm not going to hold my breath for a Hazel Grace outcome on this😊.
