This books started off a bit confusing for me and a tad boring. I would've loved more explanation as to how mortals were in Hell. We're they born or created? I thought that souls in Hell were of people that were horrible in life, so how could a baby or child be in Hell? Also, how many "families" were there down there? Was it just a couple or is it like a whole other world? Are they are able to reproduce like mortals?
Lucy, who is Lucifer's daughter, wants nothing more than to live a couple years in the mortal world. She herself is a mortal until she reaches her 18th birthday and goes through a change to become immortal. Are all the children under 18 mortal, and if so wouldn't she sort of already be living in a mortal world, even if only partially? Also, where is Lucy's mom? I don't understand the desire to be a mortal either. Did all the children get a chance to like in the mortal realm before the change. Just so many questions that made it hard for me to really get into it.
I have previously read another book by Sarah Kenney, Sleepwalker A Keyhole Novel, and loved that one. This just goes to show that even if you enjoy a certain author, you may not enjoy each one of their books. Also, even though I didn't rate this as a 5/5, I'd still like to read the next one in the series to see how Lucy makes out. I am hoping that the Devils Dream: The Devils Curse Novels #2, will answer may of the questions that I was left with after reading this one.
*UPDATE* I have spoken with the author and have been informed that this was her very first novel. She says that things become more clear in the following sequels.
