A bit about Mike Wells -
Mike Wells is an American bestselling author of more than 25 "unputdownable" thriller and suspense novels, including Lust, Money & Murder and Passion, Power & Sin. He is also known for his young adult books, such as The Mysterious Disappearance of Kurt Kramer, The Wrong Side of the Tracks, and Wild Child, which are used by English teachers in high schools and colleges worldwide. Formerly a screenwriter, Wells has a fast-paced, cinematic writing style. His work is often compared to that of the late Sidney Sheldon, with strong and inspiring female heroes, tightly-written scenes, engaging action/dialogue, and numerous plot twists. Q1. In terms of the work you do, what aspects are you most passionate about? Why?
A1. I suppose I’m most passionate about the readers’
reactions to my newest book, the feedback and reviews that are posted
online or emailed to me after a new release. That’s the most exciting
moment of all for me. In terms of the actual process of writing, I
would say its creating a well-crafted story that flows smoothly and is
easy for readers to follow —I dedicate a lot of time to re-writing,
editing, cutting, fine-tuning, honing until I think it’s prefect.
Q2. What do you consider some of your biggest professional and personal accomplishments? How did your attributes contribute to those accomplishments?
A2. In terms of my writing career, that’s definitely being
able to make a decent living from my writing, which gives me the ability
to focus on it full-time. I’m proud of this because it took twenty
years of super hard work to get here. The personal quality behind this, I
believe, is simply that I never gave up. I did “quit” many times, in
anger, after a terrible rejection letter, for example, but after I
cooled off I climbed back into the saddle and kept riding along. If you
know you’re born to be a writer, that’s simply what you have to do—you
have no choice in the matter.
Q3. What is your dream for the future?
A3. One of my biggest dreams is to see one or more of my books or series on film, either as feature films or Netflix type series.
