Everyone knows a couple like Jack and Grace. He has looks and wealth; she has charm and elegance. He’s a dedicated attorney who has never lost a case; she is a flawless homemaker, a masterful gardener and cook, and dotes on her disabled younger sister. Though they are still newlyweds, they seem to have it all. You might not want to like them, but you do. You’re hopelessly charmed by the ease and comfort of their home, by the graciousness of the dinner parties they throw. You’d like to get to know Grace better.
But it’s difficult, because you realize Jack and Grace are inseparable.
Some might call this true love. Others might wonder why Grace never answers the phone. Or why she can never meet for coffee, even though she doesn’t work. How she can cook such elaborate meals but remain so slim. Or why she never seems to take anything with her when she leaves the house, not even a pen. Or why there are such high-security metal shutters on all the downstairs windows.
Some might wonder what’s really going on once the dinner party is over, and the front door has closed.

*My Review*

Jack and Grace are the perfect couple or are they.... are things really what they appear to be?
The book shifts easily between the past and the present. You learn how they met, about Grace's sister with down syndrome, the quick engagement, the wedding and then who Jack and Grace really are.
From the outside they seem like the perfect couple with the perfect house, but as you read you learn that the perfect life that was dreamed up couldn't be farther from the life that they are living.
I knew right from the beginning of the book that there was something not right with the marriage. What I couldn't tell was if it was Jack or if it was Grace. It didn't take long to figure it out and then I just kept trying to figure out how it would all end.

I was kept on the edge of my seat as I listened to this book and more than once I caught my self saying "What!". You'll find lots of twists and turns with an epic ending.

  1. Sounds like Behind Closed Doors is well-written. It's a subject I often wonder about myself. Is that grumpy couple a total romantic adventure behind closed doors? Is that beautiful couple cruel to each other when no one's looking? Thanks for reviewing.

    1. I am pretty picky with my audio-books and this one was great. It only took me 2 days to listen to the whole thing. I just couldn't stop. I bet more couples than we think, are different behind closed doors.
I'm glad you enjoyed the review. Thanks for the comment.
